Pokemon Gold/Silver DS Remakes Confirmed

The original Pokémon Red and Blue from the Game Boy were successfully remade into Pokémon Fire Red and Leaf Green for the GBA about five years ago (has it really been that long?). Now, Nintendo is gearing up to do it again, transforming what many feel was the peak of the series - the Game Boy Color's Pokémon Gold and Silver - into Pokémon Heart Gold and Soul Silver for the DS.

Set for release in Japan at the end of the year, it seems safe to assume that we're looking at a 2010 release for the Western world. I say it every time, but it's particularly applicable given we're talking about Gold and Silver: the main line of Pokémon games have always been deep, enjoyable RPGs. These remakes have me excited.
