PS3 Release Delayed in Japan
PS2, All
15th March 2006, 1:21pm
It appears as if the Sony Playstation 3 has been delayed yet again in Japan until the end of the year. An official statement by Sony has not been released, but the Japanese press has published that the PS3 will not be released until November 2006 in Japan.Apparently the delay is due to the Blu-Ray storage format, and finalising the copy-protection system to ensure the system is adequately secured.
What does this mean for Australian Gamers? This will mean that there is a high probability that we won't see the Playstation 3 here until the Christmas season in 2007, even later. This will obviously give the XBOX 360 a large 18 month inroad to build up sales, and build a well established user-base.
We also speculate Sony will probably find it difficult to push the current PS2 as time goes by, compared to the sparkle of the next generation Xbox 360.
