Rock Band 2 Announced

Xbox 360

1st July 2008, 1:28am

Harmonix are feeling the possible burn that Guitar Hero IV might be bringing. You know what that means: new version time! Rock Band 2 has been announced, bringing with it various updates and features to the first title.

First up, Rock Band 2 will be backwards compatible: downloadable content for Rock Band 1 will work on Rock Band 2. This will also work in reverse: PS3 owners will be able to download RB2 songs for RB1. Why would they do that? Well, RB2 will be an Xbox 360 exclusive for a while, with versions for other consoles to appear later in the year.

All the old instruments will work, but there'll be new 'more realistic and reliable' instruments avaliable too.

"Rock Band 2 takes all the lessons we've learned from making a multi-instrument music game, addresses them, then adds some amazing new ways for you to experience your music library that have never been seen in a music game before," said Dan Teasdale to IGN.

Nothing has been said on the playlist at the moment, aside from Teasdale stating that it's the "strongest playlist we've ever assembled". Whatever that means.

Rock Band 2 will be released in September. Since we don't even have Rock Band 1 yet, we'll probably get it in September 2021.

Sounds to me like you might be able to upload your own music files and jam out to them?
