Rumours Suggest New Wii Mario, Updated Wii Fit
Wii

Japan's Nihon Keizai Shimbun paper has reported (take your pick of poor online translations) that a new Mario game for Wii and an updated Wii Fit are in the works. The former is said to be arriving in the second half of this year in a bid to boost lagging (though still decent) Wii sales in Japan. One imagines it would be an international release for such a big title. Many have speculated that the game might be Super Mario Galaxy 2 - there's certainly plenty of potential that can be milked from the space concept.
The new Wii Fit version will supposedly measure your weight and centre of gravity more accurately, but whether this means a new Balance Board or just better software is unclear. We also don't if, the latter being the case, the software could be downloaded for existing owners, or if new discs would be needed.
After an empty 2008, the focus on Nintendo this E3 will be to show the big guns and prove to the longtime faithful that there are still games for them on the system. New Mario and Zelda games are in the works - we'll just have to cross our fingers and hope that they are shown in the next couple of days. What do you want from both franchises?
