SEGA Sues Fox Interactive Over Simpsons Road Rage
10th December 2003, 4:56pm
You may have heard that Sega recently sued Fox Interactive over their game, Simpsons Road Rage. Sega claims that Simpsons Road Rage is to similar to their game, Crazy Taxi. Both games follow the formula of driving around to pick up random passengers and take them to their destination as quickly as you can, doing some zany driving on the way.
Sega's request is that the game Simpsons Road Rage stops being sold and that all copies currently on store shelves be removed. They are also asking that they receive some compensation for lost profits.
Not good news for the Simpsons video games as most borrow some popular formula from another game (Hit and Run has been commented on as a Grand Theft Auto Clone (created by Rockstar)). This will be a highly watched issue as many developers will be keen to gaurd their ideas and will want to know if such an attack on other companies copying their games is possible.
