Significant Layoffs at EA Black Box
23rd January 2009, 9:13am

Just one day after the highly anticipated Skate 2 hit the shelves, Electronic Arts has announced it is making significant cuts to staff levels at its Vancouver studio, Black Box.
The layoffs are part of the restructuring plan which will save EA $120 million dollars annually, said EA's director of communication, Colin Macrea.
The studio currently employs over 350 people, and reports are coming in that more than half of the positions are being made redundant.
EA Black Box is most well known for creating every Need for Speed game since Hot Pursuit 2.

Stupid US econemy! I need my games!
Still - I got bored with the NFS franchise a while ago, and I'd rather poke myself in the eye then play a sakteboarding game =\
So they're responsible for all the bad NFSs. Still it's always sad to hear more and more people are losing their jobs. It makes me glad that I'm safe for the next 3 years.
