Silver Playstation 3 set for Japan
PS3

While us poor Aussies have to put up with a mere black Playstation 3, over in Japan they've just announced a Satin Silver PS3. The unit will be a 40gb model, with a single SixAxis controller, and priced at 39,980yen. This now gives the Japanese a choice between either black, white, or silver consoles.
Sliced Comments: Who knows when we may see this colour hit our shores, however don't hold your breath for too long, or you may just turn... blue?

I doubt we'll see any of the other models unless the PS3 sales in this country pick up.. which requires more games! I've got a few on my list that I want to play. =3
I think they may do it to spice up sales? However we do receive all the special models so much further behind everywhere else.
Or we could actually get a model that isn't gimped out the butt to begin with. That would be nice. The 40GB model was the one no one wanted in the first place, but Sony released it so they had a $499 option in the US.
And it comes out down here for $999 at launch. GG Sony. Assheads. A larger HDD and some backwards compatibility would be nice. Not a new goddamn colour.

The one that was released at launch does have backwards compatibility. All my Ps2 games, bar one, work completely fine. I've got 10+ PS2 games still and most of them are pretty obscure.
Yeah, but all the 40gb models, or pretty much of the new ones don't have that at all.
Sony is still trying to flog the PS2, and I think they're still not too far behind wii, ps3 and 360. The price you can pick a ps2 up for these days still isn't that much if you really care enough to play ps2 stuff, or just keep your old one.
