5th October 2003, 8:33pm
Researches from Toront's Western Hospital have found the the chemical named "Sonic Hedgehog" contributes to symptoms of the disease, according to scientists at Toronto's Western Hospital. And their study suggests that increasing the amount of Sonic Hedgehog in the brain could be a potential treatment for Parkinson's Disease. A disease of the central nervous system
The name is no coincidence, Sonic Hedgehog was named after the colourfull character from Sega. However i doubt anyone realised what a hero this little hedgehog really is when they named the brain chemical after him.
