It looks like Sony is set to role out a similar system to Electronic Arts online pass system, with Resistance 3 preliminary box shots featuring a "PSN Pass" graphic. SCEA has in fact confirmed this will be the case. This would mean that such games sold will contain a "one time use" network code that will be required to activate the online features of the title. Of course, this means, that if on-sold, users will have to purchase a fresh pass to use the online features.

It is believed that it will be optional as to whether developers use the PSN Pass system, but we wouldn't be surprised if it becomes the standard quite soon, or in fact made mandatory. Further details will apparently be released soon.

It's a clever move to squeeze out the second hand market, and possibly help prevent some piracy and online cheating, but will gamers be happy with being forced to use the system? Have your say below...

Yeah, I mean I understand why they do it but it is a little silly.

More and more games are featuring this kind of system. White Knight Chronicles 2 also used a one-time online pass, as did White Knight Chronicles: Origins (which is a PSP game!)

This may in fact help the second hand market ........ I buy alot of games on ebay and at least a third of them ....... have unused codes....... and they don't advertise the fact.......

A few of my mates have ps3's and are not connected to or are not interested in connecting to the net but will buy MW3 ....... they could now sell it s/h with code for a premium price......
