It seems Nintendo is rather in love with the Super Mario Galaxy template, because Super Mario for the 3DS appears to blend the best bits of Super Mario 64 with the clever 2D and 3D interchangeability of its space-based successors. With the return of many classic power-ups like the Tanooki Suit, the game seems like a faithful continuation of modern Mario that you can carry in your pocket.
