The First Ever Crossover Battle
GBA
29th April 2005, 3:40pm
You've done it with Pokemon - linked up two GBAs and fought each other. Well, Capcom and Konami are very excited to reveal that you will be able to - with a wireless adapter - link between Megaman Battle Network 5 and Boktai 2: Solar Boy Django and duke it out!!!This is the first time ever that two unrelated games will be able to hook up to each other, and its all because of the friendship between Boktai creator Hideo Kojima and Keiji Inafune, Producer of Capcom's Mega Man series for the GBA. Protagonist Django, from the innovative Boktai titles, made a cameo appearance in a previous Mega Man adventure.
The battles take the form of side-on fights, with players of both Boktai 2 and Mega Man Battle Network 5 taking on a character called ShadeMan across rounds of predetermined length. Before the contest and in between bouts, players can make tactical changes with Hit Points determining the winner – if a player loses all theirs, the opponent is declared the winner. Similarly, the characters from each game will both enjoy unique abilities lifted from their source titles, and will have special attacks designed to interfere with the opponent's game play.
This is a very exciting development for handheld play, and you'd be wise to keep an eye on these two titles in the near future.
