Throughout The Great Escape, players will control multiple characters each with their own individual strengths and abilities through a variety of levels. McQueen’s character Hilts, “The Cooler King”, has a knack for picking locks. MacDonald, known as “Intelligence,” can speak German to impersonate Nazi soldiers, and Hendly, “The Scrounger,” is a master pickpocket. The diverse and beautifully rendered levels include a German POW camp, a mountaintop castle-fortress, a busy hospital, a moving train and an active Luftwaffe airfield. In addition to stealth and action elements, the game includes frantic vehicular combat with a number of different WWII era vehicles, including motorbikes, trucks and jeeps.
