The Lord of the Rings - The White Council

 Electronic Arts has just announced a new RPG title based around the Lord of the Rings licence: Lord of the Rings - The White Council. The game appears that it will tie more into the epic movie trilogy, rather than the books and allow players to explore the expansive JJR Tolkien world. Each player can choose to play as either a human, Elf, Dwarf or Hobbit. Players will be free to explore the free range environment, and next generation graphics will be used to maximum effect on both PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

From the press release: 'Our extremely talented and dedicated team is committed to creating an incredible new experience for fans of The Lord of the Rings and role playing gamers,' said Steve Gray, executive producer, The Lord of the Rings, The White Council. 'With its next generation gameplay and epic new storyline, we think The Lord of the Rings, The White Council will be a huge success.'

Further details on the game can be found at the official White Council Website. Although there isn't too much there at present to wet the appetite.

Don't expect the game any time soon - release is expected in late 2007.
