The Sims 3 has been delayed, but it's not as bad as you might expect. Originally, the game was scheduled for release on February 20th. It has now been pushed back to June 4th, 2009. That's only three and a half months - it could be worse.

The Sims 3 is an incredible game that lets you play with life, create art and show off your creations,” said Executive Producer Ben Bell. “In the game, players are inspired by endless creative possibilities like the new Traits and Lifetime Wish features which allow players to create Sims with real personalities and destinies. Players can then take their Sim into town to interact with other Sims in the game and capture the action on video to show off online.”

It looks like they're definitely trying to up the ante this time around. What's another couple of months?

I'm guessing EA are trying to spread their big titles out more so that they can pad out every quarter's earnings.

I really don't see the pull of Sims.

I mean, it's the largest selling game ever IIRC, what is the point!?!??

Seriously, I really don't why you'd play a game about living life, it's all very morbid to me.

I think SMB 3 has more but building house was pretty fun. The actual gameplay was shit but girls seemed to love it.

How is that any different in principle from playing the Sims? Still tending to a character?

The sims is fun for a number of reasons:

- house building
- messing with characters

plus I also just like to play with the sim creator, and now that it's getting more advanced it should be more entertaining trying to make people.

I'm not terribly into the actual gameplay element as that can get tedious and boring quickly but every now and again I'll play through with a character.

It's a fun game, but not for a long. It's one of those things you get cravings for every x amount of months.

That's so true. I have a massive craving for it at the moment but I lent the game to one of my friends. I need to get it back.

WoW offers things you can't do in real life, and at the end of the week/month you can look back at something you've worked hard on - Yes in sims u can build a house blah blah, its still all real life actions - hands up who can fly a dragon or call down a blizzard of ice?

Niether nor can I have children without making my life less awsome. I can't get a job as a doctor or buy most of the shit you can in the sims. It is a life simulator but it is a better life simulator.

But the thing is you're not your characters and there are no other people around. It's like if you could achieve success in a few days but it was unfulfilling 'cause you can only mumble to other people and look at a book and walk outside and go to the toilet.

If you were wanting a life simulator... well WoW would be a pretty mad life. Cool gear, progression, tons of other people, etc.

Not everyone likes fantasy worlds. I agree that the sims is pretty crap but the game sold more than 15 million copies it is clearly an apealing idea for a lot of people.

I think that speaks for the intellect of "alot of people" rather then the quality of the game.

You're saying people of a higher intellect enjoy games like WoW?
My first MMO?
Where they pretty much hand-feed you everything now?
Really?

Wow.

ps if you want decent fantasy, I wouldn't turn to WoW either.

No, plenty of wow players are f*kin morons, which is why I take a break from it every few months. I was more pointing out the old saying: Small things.....

Intelligence has nothing to do with whether or not you like the sims. People like it for different reasons. I like it because it's a way to be creative with design, for example. And while you can do a lot in WoW you have to spend AGES in order to actually achieve anything worthwhile. A lot of people don't have that sort of patience or time commitment (e.g. me).
