THQ Sign Victorian Developers
Melbourne, Vic., - November 20, 2003 - THQ Australia Studios (a division of THQ® Inc. NASDAQ: THQI) today announced development agreements with two Melbourne-based software companies for The Polar Express - a CGI animated movie adaptation of the internationally acclaimed children's book. Following the recent announcement of a worldwide agreement with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, which named THQ the interactive game licensee for The Polar Express, Blue Tongue Entertainment has been commissioned to develop both the console and PC versions of the game. Tantalus Interactive has commenced development of the Game Boy Advance version.
Steve Dauterman, Director, THQ Australia Studios, said he was pleased with the appointment.
"The goal of THQ's global studio restructuring announced in February and the subsequent establishment of THQ Australia Studios, was to work more closely with development talent around the Asia-Pacific region," Mr. Dauterman said. "We are rapt that, having secured a licensing agreement with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, we are able to offer this development opportunity to local companies to work closely with our Brisbane-based studio. The teams we have assembled have the creative and technical expertise to produce top quality game software."
The Polar Express for Console, PC and Game Boy Advance will release in conjunction with the theatrical release in late 2004.
