Ubisoft has finally given the Rabbids the game they deserve - one without that pesky Rayman hanging around, ruining their fun. It's called Rabbids Go Home, and it's being developed by Ubisoft Montpellier - the team behind Beyond Good & Evil, Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie and the original Rayman Raving Rabbids. It's been in development for two and a half years, and it's finally arriving some time around October 2009.

After three invasions, the Rabbids are ready to go home. It just so turns out that 'home' is the Moon. And, obviously, the easiest way to get to the moon is just to build a huge pile of stuff and then climb it. So they grab a shopping cart, and go around stealing all sorts of things from the nasty Humans. It's an action-adventure, not a minigame collection, and that is a fantastic thing. It's set in an open world, with the aim of each level being to grab an XL item for the pile. These items, once stolen, then improve the shopping cart's abilities - for example, a jet engine will make it travel a lot faster.

The previous Rabbids games have sold 6.5 million copies worldwide. With a dearth of adventure games, a dearth of quality third party titles and a dearth of rabbit-based action-shopping games, Rabbids Go Home ought to do even greater business on the Wii. IGN has a teaser trailer that shows off the game's new style.
