Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception Revealed
PS3

We've finally got our first glimpse of Uncharted 3, newly subtitled Drake's Deception. Ahead of a big reveal at this weekend's Spike Videogame Awards (airing December 13th in the US), the first information has been released with a few bits of teasing media. The game sees Drake and Sully searching for the lost Arabian city of 'Iram of the Pillars' in the deserts of the Middle East. Drawing on the early life of T.E. Lawrence - better known as Lawrence of Arabia - the team apparently went for the game concept they thought would be hardest to pull off: sand.
Entertainment Weekly is reporting that the game includes new features like 'enhanced backwards climbing', whatever the hell that means, and hand to hand combat with multiple enemies at once. Plus, the online and co-op experience is receiving a lot of attention, so don't be surprised if the whole game can be played through with a buddy. And in a pleasant surprise, the game will support stereostopic 3D - expect all Sony tentpole games to follow the trend from now on. New innovations in sand, fire, smoke and water effects will undoubtedly push the already gorgeous franchise into impressive new levels of cinematic experience.
Naughty Dog is refusing to set a firmer release date than the American Fall (June onwards), but hey, not even having to wait until November seems pretty good already. Check out a few neat screenshots that seem to reveal just how Drake ends up wandering the desert, and the teaser trailer over at IGN that gives you a taste of Nolan North as the Prince Nathan Drake.

Pumped it has got T.E. Lawrence in it, his book and story is so pimpin' so I'm sure something cool will come of it. Odd character though.
A desert could be awesome if they get it to work.

Fable 3 did desert pretty well, I really like the Uncharted games so this one should be pretty cool
Looks and sounds great so far, this has lots of potential!

Yeah Fable did a good job, especially when you first entered into it because it seemed... big. Also those sand girl ninjas that attack you are rad.
I hope there's at least one really vast piece of desert. Even if you just have to walk straight across it. I think one of the appeals to Lawrence was the vastness and solitude of the desert, as well as the ancient-ness I suppose. It's certainly what I find coolest. And yeah, I know there are plenty of featureful deserts around, and I'm sure (and I hope) there are plenty of them...
Well, in any case it will be good. That said, with all this desert news, I wonder what the other locations will be? Uncharted 2 jumped around like mad (and to great effect - brilliant game).

I assume some oasis's with underground temples with lush greenery and waterfalls. I think fans have come to expect that now =)
oasis's
Oases. Apparently desert is the new gritty urbania this year. Journey is doing similar things.

Sweet trailer, looks they're going all the way with the T.E. Lawrence thing. That quote he reads out was totally my facebook quote until about a day ago haha.
