Wii Searches Increase On Google

According to a Google zeitgeist report published in the Financial Times, 'Wii' made the top five rising searches for the week ending 1/5/06. It was in fourth position; no other videogame terms made the list. In first was NFL Draft, second was Cindy Margolis, third was United 93 and fifth was Cinco de Mayo.

Obviously, the sharp rise is attributable to the fact that 'Wii' was an unknown term before Nintendo announced it. Google was presumably flooded by curious gamers trying to hunt down more details.
