Wii Turns Two
Wii
7th December 2008, 11:10am

Two years ago today, Nintendo released the Wii onto Australian shelves, but I'm not sure if they could have predicted the phenomenon it has been both here and worldwide. More than 750,000 consoles have been sold in the region, and nearly 35 million internationally.
The success of casual titles like Wii Fit and Mario Kart has proven alluring to Nintendo - so alluring that they have been widely criticised for abandoning the core gamer. Still, credit must be given for cracking into a market that has been mostly untouched by consoles for years, and is now hot property across the gaming industry.
