Xbox 360 Ends The Year On A High

Microsoft Australia has announced that the Xbox 360 will by Christmas have sold it's 500,000th console here in Australia, putting it ahead of the Playstation 3 (although still trailing the Wii). Sales are also up 52% on the console on the same time last year.
Despite harder economic conditions in 2008, Australian's spent a record $680 million on gaming products. This is a massive 40% increase on last year. Some $100 million of that was in the last week alone leading into Christmas.
Xbox 360 has also sold 25 million total consoles worldwide, and some 4 million games here in Australia.
Over 50% of Aussie Xbox 360 owners are active on Xbox Live, and presently there are some 14 million Xbox Live users worldwide.
