8 Step in to the lost world of Trine, where three heroes are bound to a mysterious device called the Trine in an epic mission to save the kingdom from evil. Take control of a dazzling Wizard, a heroic Knight and a striking Thief as you journey through the ancient world that Frozenbyte have created. A world where anything is possible and items can be created with the flick of a mouse. As you fight your way through the evil army of skeletal soldiers, you will learn the true powers of not only your heroes, but also the ancient relic: Trine.
Gameplay
Jumping in to the first level, Trine teaches you how to play the game. Each of your heroes have basic skills that can be upgraded, and as you work your way through the game you will unlock new abilities too. There are three different kinds of consumables, green pots give you experience, blue pots refill your vitality bar (for magic), and red hearts, well, if you’re playing Trine chances are you know what red hearts are for. These consumables drop off enemies and are also hidden all around each level. Most experience pots are in hard to reach places and will challenge your brain as you work to level up your heroes.
There are three heroes as mentioned in the intro, the Wizard, the Thief, and the Knight. The Wizard is probably Trine’s greatest feat, as when you take control of him you can use telekinesis to move objects around, and also create your own crates and platforms by simply drawing them on-screen. Sometimes this can feel like cheating, but most of the time you’re creating crates to reach areas that you wouldn’t normally be able to reach, and creating platforms to ensure you don’t fall into a bottomless pit of doom or spikes.
The Thief is a female which you soon learn carries a very useful bow and arrow. Furthermore, she has a grappling hook which allows her to swing off objects like Spiderman. Later in the game, she can even manipulate time which is a great benefit for solving the more difficult puzzles in the final levels. The Knight is just your average tank. Equipped with a trusty sword and shield, he can take on the biggest of foes; just don’t get him caught in water as all that armor makes him sink. With these three heroes you can overcome any challenge with the perfect combination of agility, dexterity, and strength.
The enemies in Trine are mainly skeletons that have different abilities. The standard ones will just come at you with a sword, but there are also skeletons with bow and arrows, skeletons with a shield, and ones that breathe fire. As you reach the end of some levels you are sometimes faced with giant skeletons, and also trolls. There are a few other enemy types such as spiders and bats that you must fight your way through, but they are more of a minor inconvenience than a challenging foe. The skeletons ...
